Lincoln Women's Aid - Charity of the Year

Lincoln Women's Aid is Shooting Star PR's 2010 Charity of the Year.

The Lincoln-based charity aims to help women, with or without children, who are suffering any form of domestic abuse whether physical, emotional or sexual.

Since being set up in 1976 the charity has helped thousands of women in Lincoln and across the UK by providing them with a safe haven and offering a range of support services.

"We never turn a woman away when they come to us for help," said a Lincoln Women's Aid spokeswoman. "We're here to offer a safe place for women who have fled abuse and to offer support to women in abusive relationships.

"Lincoln Women's Aid is delighted to have been chosen by Shooting Star PR as their charity for 2010.

"We hope their professional advice and support will help us to continue to bring our service to the attention of those who need support in coping with and escaping from domestic violence. In a short period of time we have found their involvement with ourselves to be a benefit and we look forward to an exciting year for us."

Lincoln Women's Aid now operates several services:

Lincoln Refuge
The Lincoln Refuge is a safe house in where women and children can stay if they feel unable to live safely in their own homes because they are being abused or fear further abuse.

Outreach Service
In 2007 Lincoln Women's Aid introduced an Outreach Service to offer support for women who are unable to attend our centers. The service offers advice and access to legal, housing, financial and benefits advice and support. Outreach Workers will meet women wherever it is safe for them and provide ongoing support.

Lincoln Women's Centre and Grantham Women's Centre
Lincoln Women's Centre and Grantham Women's Centre both offer a safe environment where women suffering domestic abuse can go and access confidential help and support from centre workers and trained volunteers.

Here women can also find information and support or access programmes offered by the charity to help reduce their vulnerability to future domestic abuse.

Young People's Project
The Young People's Project offers emotional support and activities to young people aged 11 to 16 who have experienced domestic abuse.

“This is the second publication that Shooting Star have helped us to develop and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. The team provided us with a highly professional service that didn't just save us time and effort in the production of the content, but pushed us to produce a magazine of much higher quality and creativity than we would have done on our own.”
