Lincoln-based Shooting Star PR has been asked to help turn the spotlight on the UK’s newest theatre.
The £6 million Lincoln Performing Arts Centre opened its doors at the University of Lincoln this month with the visit of the Laurence Olivier Award-winning play Blackbird by David Harrower.
The centre’s mission is present work of national and international quality in theatre, music, dance, film, talks and conferences, adding to the existing live arts offering in Lincoln.
The £6 million centre is also home to the Lincoln School of Performing Arts (LSPA) where around 240 students study for undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in drama and dance.
The centrepiece of the new building is an impressive 450-seat theatre which will host professional touring theatre, music and dance productions, film screenings and productions by students from the Lincoln School of Performing Arts.
Shooting Star PR’s job was to help formulate a marketing and publicity campaign for Blackbird and the rest of the inaugural season of performing arts events at LPAC.
The Blackbird campaign achieved an extremely high profile for the play, including extensive coverage in the Lincolnshire Echo and other local newspapers, interviews on BBC Radio Lincolnshire and live coverage on BBC TV.
“Having worked in the university sector, and with extensive experience of live arts marketing and promotion, Shooting Star PR have all the knowhow we need to help put LPAC on the arts map,” said Professor Michael Earley, Executive Director of LPAC.
“They did a great job promoting Blackbird and we’re looking forward to working with them on our future projects.”
Other clients on Shooting Star PR’s roster include the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society, Innovation Lincolnshire, the market leading insurance group HomeLet, property and land agents JHWalter, construction firm Rand Group and Lincolnshire Development.
