The Sky’s the Limit for Shooting Star PR

Lincolnshire businesses are to benefit from the launch of a new PR consultancy aimed at improving communications between themselves and their potential customers within the county and beyond.

Shooting Star PR has been set up in Lincoln by directors Kate Strawson and Jez Ashberry who have over 20 years’ combined experience in the media industry.

Kate Strawson began her career as a reporter for a local newspaper before becoming a broadcast journalist with commercial radio station Lincs FM. More recently she worked as a press officer for the University of Lincoln.

According to Kate they decided to start their own business in order to fill a gap in the market: “The development of the university in Lincoln has encouraged a lot of new businesses to set up in the city but compared to other cities in the East Midlands and the rest of the UK there are very few public relations agencies to help promote these businesses.”

She continued: “Organizations both in the public and private sector in Lincolnshire are recognizing the importance of good public relations and the impact this can have on their success. Employing an in-house public relations team is not an option for many businesses and up until now access to outside expertise has been limited.”

Jez Ashberry, formerly the Press and Media Relations Manager for the University of Lincoln, is an experienced reporter, magazine editor and PR professional. After eight years in his previous job he decided it was time for a change.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed working for the university and being involved in the development of the university in Lincoln. However I’ve always aspired to being my own boss and decided the timing was right start a new business built on over 14 years’ experience in the media industry.”
